Why Is a Semen Analysis Important?
A semen analysis is a vital diagnostic test that evaluates the quality and quantity of sperm. It is a key part of assessing male fertility and can provide important insights even when there are no obvious symptoms. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), male factors contribute to around 40–50% of infertility cases. Identifying any abnormalities early can help guide the appropriate treatment plan.
At Almond Blossoms, we recommend that all individuals or couples undergoing fertility evaluation or treatment complete a semen analysis, regardless of whether male infertility is suspected. For a very detailed sperm assessment, your doctor may recommend extra tests with the same sperm sample, like Sperm Culture, Sperm Oxidative test, Sperm DNA Fragmentation test.
Appointment Booking & Clinic Hours

Upon arrival, you will need to:
- Present photo identification.
- Complete a clinic registration form (this can be emailed in advance and returned electronically or brought to your appointment).
- Complete the semen requisition form at the clinic on the day of sample production.
Days of Abstinence
To ensure the most accurate results, we follow WHO guidelines and recommend 2 to 7 days of sexual abstinence prior to your appointment. Shorter or longer abstinence periods may negatively impact sperm concentration, motility and morphology.
Cost and Results
- The cost of the semen analysis is AED 300, payable at the clinic.
- The results will be available within 24 hours.

Sample Collection Instructions
To maintain the integrity of your sample, please follow these steps carefully:
- Ensure 2 to 7 days of abstinence from ejaculation prior to collection.
- The sample must be produced on-site at Almond Blossoms, in our designated sample collection room.
- Ensure that the container is correctly labelled with your full name and date of birth.
- Wash your hands thoroughly before producing the sample.
- Avoid losing any part of the sample during collection.
- Place the sample securely into the labeled sterile container provided.
- Place the container in the sample bag and press the call button in the collection room.
- Hand the sample directly to the embryologist.
- Inform the embryologist immediately if you suspect that any part of the sample was lost.
